About the classes
I offer customizable art classes for individuals or small groups of children or adults. Private lessons are great way to develop artistic skills and foster creativity while having fun. Tailor the classes to fit your abilities and interests. These classes can cover the most basic level skills of various art-making practices to advanced techniques.
-Cost is $25/ hour plus supplies
-Private or group classes available
-Flexible meeting times to work around your schedule
-1 1/2-3 hour time slots available for lessons
-Classes are taught in my home art studio in Coralville
-Classes are available from 4th grade to adults
-Topics to choose from include
• Printmaking (ex. relief printing, stamp making, monotypes,
screenprinting on textiles and t-shirts)
• Book Arts (ex. book binding, accordion-style books,
journal making)
• Painting- Oil, watercolor, and acrylics
• Drawing
• Collage
• Cartooning and comics
About Me
I am an artist with over ten years of experience teaching art to children and adults. I have taught private lessons and group lessons to all ages. I have led multiple art programs and taught art classes for a number of local community groups including, the University of Iowa’s Arts Share Program, United Action for Youth, Coralville Central’s FAST after school program, Robert A Lee Recreation Center’s Summer arts programs, and the Grinnell Area Arts Council.
I recently taught for three years as a Professor of Art at Florida State College in Jacksonville. Last year, I made a big life decision to leave my full time job and return to Iowa, where I am teaching part-time, while pursuing a career as a painter, designer, and illustrator. Currently, I am an adjunct professor at Coe College and Kirkwood in Iowa City. I have a BFA in Painting and Drawing from Louisiana State University and an MFA from the University of Iowa in Painting with a minor in Printmaking.
